Agastya is a design studio based in Lucknow, creating sculptural furniture and collectible objects that merge native
craftsmanship with European, sometimes Japanese design influences.
Founded by Anoop Shukla, an art & design practitioner, Agastya works primarily with hand-bent cane, wood, textile and
mixed media — reimagining these materials through a darker, more refined lens. The objective is to make pieces with a
certain care, even if it is a slower process, with an emphasis on form, feeling and permanence. Pieces that don't claim
perfection, but pride of artisanal craft.
Drawing from Art Nouveau curves, Art Deco structures, and echoes of Indian architectural memory, the work sits
somewhere between function and sculptural. The result is a collection that feels both familiar and timeless. Rich in
atmosphere yet restrained in form.
At Agastya, we don’t intend to follow the rush of seasonal trends. We strive to build a quieter, more intentional world;
one where furniture is treated as art, and objects are made to be kept.
